One of the most common questions we hear from new spa owners is: “How long should I stay in my spa?”

We recommend anywhere from 15-30 minutes as the perfect amount of time to decompress in your hot tub from Dream Maker Spas. If you adjust your spa time based on the factors below, you should be able to step out of your spa feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and ready to conquer your day!

1) The Outside Temperature

The weather plays a big role in determining how long you should soak in your spa. During the hot summer months, it can be harder for your body to cool down, so we recommend shorter spa sessions to avoid becoming too hot. During the cool winter months, you’ll be able sit for longer in your spa, enjoying the contrast between the warm water and the surrounding crisp air.

2) Hot Tub Temperatures

As a general rule of thumb, the hotter the hot tub temperature, the shorter your spa session should be. If you feel like you’re heating up quickly, it’s probably a good idea to step out from the spa for a little while to let your body temperature adjust. Decreasing your water temperature by one or two degrees can allow you to soak in the water longer. Remember to drink a cool glass of water while you soak to stay hydrated, allowing you to spend more time enjoying your hot tub.

3) Your Overall Health

Your overall heath may also be a determining factor in the amount of time you spend in your spa, in addition to the water temperature. If you are in good health, then you can adjust your soaking time to your comfort level. However, if you have an underlying condition such as high blood pressure, it’s a good idea to consult with your doctor before enjoying hot tub hydrotherapy.
